Zamalek could not find the back of the net as they played out a goalless draw against Dreams FC in the first leg of the CAF Cup semi-final on Sunday, April 21. Despite being the clear favorites against a Ghanaian team making their debut in the competition, coach José Gomes expressed his frustration in the post-match press conference. « We lacked speed and creativity against Dreams FC, » the Portuguese coach stated. « There were some technical errors and we didn’t play optimally, but we had plenty of chances to win and decide the game. »
He added that his team will need to prepare rigorously for the return leg in order to secure a spot in the final. « Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the win and the first part of the semi-final is over. Now, we have to focus on playing well in the second half in Ghana. »
