The goalkeeper of the Super Eagles, Stanley Nwabali (27 years old), has stated that he has not yet received any offers from clubs after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Despite previous reports suggesting the interest of Queens Park Rangers (England), Union St Gilloise (Belgium), and Al Ettifaq of the Saudi Pro League, Nwabali highlighted the lack of direct contact regarding any transfer discussions.
Speaking in an interview with FARPost, Nwabali, who played a crucial role in Nigeria’s second-place finish at AFCON 2023, admitted, ‘To be honest, I haven’t seen anything on my table since the tournament. Maybe these clubs have talked to my team or my manager. But at this stage, we can’t say anything.’ The goalkeeper added, ‘Clubs cannot approach me directly because it wouldn’t be professional. They must talk to my management. So, I don’t know if there’s anything on the table that might be waiting maybe towards the summer. Most clubs do that. When they show interest, it opens the way for other clubs,’ hoping for potential offers as the current Chippa United goalkeeper in the South African Premier Division.
