He crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 59 minutes and 24 seconds, setting a new record for the event that had stood for 14 years. He finished well ahead of his compatriots Geofry Toroitich Kipchumba (1 hour, 1 minute, and 1 second) and Patrick Mosin (1 hour, 0 minutes, and 15 seconds).
In the women’s category, the victory went to Gete Alemayehu from Ethiopia, who completed the race in 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 10 seconds, outperforming Kenyan runners Jesca Chelangat (1 hour, 8 minutes, and 13 seconds) and Nigsti Haftu (1 hour, 9 minutes, and 30 seconds).
