Having been crowned African champion with Ivory Coast, Nicolas Pépé left his mark at Arsenal. Signed for €80 million in the summer of 2019 from Lille, the Ivorian winger has severely impacted the club’s finances. With his contract terminated, the Gunners have gained nothing from a player who cost them a total of €117 million, including transfer fees and salary, according to The Telegraph. Last season, the club incurred losses totaling over £52 million (€60.8 million). Of this amount, £18 million (€21 million) is attributed to the devaluation of Nicolas Pépé.
Fortunately for Arsenal, the club’s finances have improved since their return to the Champions League.
