Djamel Belmadi leaves his position as Algeria’s coach

Djamel Belmadi has stepped down as the coach of Algeria’s national football team. The 47-year-old coach and the Algerian Football Federation have decided to end their partnership after the Fennecs’ early exit in the 2023 AFCON.

« I have met with the national coach, Djamel Belmadi, to discuss the consequences of this bitter elimination, and we have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract between the coach and the Algerian Football Federation. We thank Djamel Belmadi for everything he has done for the national team and wish him good luck in his future endeavors, » said FAF President Walid Sadi.

The Algerian coach had led the Fennecs to their second Africa Cup of Nations title in 2019.
