Ismaël Bennacer played his final match of the year on Saturday, December 30. The Algerian midfielder was given a starting position for the second time since his return from injury in the 18th round of Serie A. The Fennec delivered a stellar performance and even provided an assist for the only goal of the game scored by American player Christian Pulisic (59th minute). After an 8-month absence due to injury, this might have been Bennacer’s last match before joining the Algerian national team for the 2023 African Cup of Nations. However, AC Milan is currently negotiating with the Algerian Football Federation to allow him to play one last game, the one in the Italian Cup next week. It remains to be seen if the Fennecs will give a positive response.
