Béatrice Chebet from Kenya and Rodrigue Kwizera from Burundi have clinched the top spots in the overall standings of the 2023-2024 Cross-Country Athletics Tour. Athletes were ranked based on their three best cross-country performance scores between September 2023 and March 31, 2024, with at least two scores required from the World Cross Country Tour events.
Chebet secured victories at the Gold-level meetings in Atapuerca in October and Elgoibar in February. She successfully defended her title at the Belgrade 24 World Cross-Country Athletics Championships, propelling her to the top of the overall standings with a score of 3880. Chebet’s compatriot, Edinah Jebitok, who emerged triumphant in Seville, Venta de Banos, and Hannut, shares the second spot in the standings with Ethiopia’s Likina Amebaw, who emerged victorious in Amorebieta, Soria, and Alcobendas.
Kwizera, who was a joint leader of the Cross Country Tour standings last season, emerged as the sole winner in the men’s competition this time around. He secured victories at the Gold-level meetings in Soria and Alcobendas in November last year and finished as the runner-up at Elgoibar earlier this year, earning him a total score of 3700 points.
