Arouna Sangante set for Senegal national team debut

Arouna Sangante, the captain of Le Havre, has received his first call-up to the Senegal national team. The announcement was made by Aliou Cissé on Friday, March 15. Speaking in a press conference before the upcoming league match against Clermont on Sunday, March 17, the young defender shared his thoughts on the call-up.

« This is a call-up that I have been waiting for. I hadn’t received it before, so I was a bit frustrated. But I knew I had to keep working, and I continued to do so. Now that I have finally been called up, the real challenge begins. I hope to give my best for this gathering and come back even stronger. There are some great players in the squad. We will learn from each other…(sic) Today, I am extremely happy. I don’t have words, » said the 21-year-old player.

The Senegal national team will play two friendly matches against Gabon on March 22 and Benin on March 26.
