Ahmed Hafnaoui, the current vice-champion in the men’s 400m freestyle, fell short of his usual standards and did not make it to the finals in Doha. He finished 17th in the heats with a time of 3:48.05. Despite claiming to have trained for the past three weeks, Hafnaoui did not perform as expected. The Olympic champion attributes his unexpected performance to using training plans from his Tunisian coaches instead of his regular coach, Schubert. It is worth noting that the Tunisian swimmer had recently returned home to update his US visa.
